Bolder than the Bold

It has neither a large screen nor a snazzy interface. But can put a lot of other phones to shame.

With a back cover that is a mix of plastic and leather, a shiny metallic top, a large qwerty keyboard and a big screen, the Bold is now better and aptly called the Bold 2. Of late, the biggest problem with BlackBerrys was the centre track ball. There have been issues with it ever since it came out. Bold 2, aka BlackBerry 9700, has a touch pad. And breaking from the BlackBerry image of ‘pure business phone’, this smart phone can handle converged multimedia as well. I have always liked BlackBerrys for their business use, but the multimedia on the 8520 was great and the same features are now on the Bold 2. The phone can play all that multimedia for 35 hours on one charge. Its keyboard is big and light on the touch, and I think it is one of the best qwerty keyboards in the market right now. The display though a bit smaller than the Bold, has been adjusted to make sure that the phone is pocket friendly, but BlackBerry has pumped up the resolution to 480 x 360 pixels, making the images sharper and more vivid. BlackBerry claims a talk time of six hours and a standby time of 17 days. The Bold 2 camera is a 3.2 megapixel, compared to the 2 megapixel camera on the Bold.
