Sometimes all you need is a straightforward MP3 player. My first one with a video screen was a Zen, but it was an old model. Recently, Creative launched the X-Fi2, featuring a larger 3-inch touch screen. No, it does not have multi-touch or gesture control. The touch screen does only basic things like Go to Next Track and Volume Up/Down. But what sets it apart from other MP3 players is the number of formats it supports. On the audio side, it supports MP3, WMA (DRM9), WAV, Audible4, AAC and FLAC, and on the video side it supports MJPEG, WMV9, MPEG4-SP, DivX4/5 and XviD. It comes in 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB variants, all expandable with microSD cards. Take in rich detail from nifty guitar strumming and crisp cymbal clashes and complete the whole experience with the bundled EP-630 earphones. Weighing 75 gm, it fits nicely in your pocket and makes a great companion. With a battery life of 25 hours on audio only and five hours on video, this is a good device if all you want to do is listen to music or watch some videos, and not play games.
