DARD-E-DISHOOM Kunder

Shirish Kunder is the director of films such as Jaan-e-Mann and has produced films such as Tees Maar Khan. But his real claim to fame is the fact that he is Om Shanti Om director Farah Khan’s husband.

After the debacle of Tees Maar Khan, it would have been wise to forget Shirish, who is now working on a movie titled Joker, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Akshay Kumar. But that was not to be. Shirish captured our attention again when the nation’s favourite Khan, Shah Rukh, beat him up recently. If ‘alleged’ reports are to be believed, SRK couldn’t help but lose his cool when Shirish, in an alleged inebriated state, followed him around Sanjay Dutt’s Agneepath success party, even following him into the loo. Some reports also suggest it was because Shirish had poked fun at Ra.One, tweeting some time ago: ‘I just heard a 150-cr firework sizzle.’

Shirish and Farah fell in love when he edited her first hit Main Hoon Na. The man from Mangalore worked with Motorola for three years before joining the film industry. His movie Jaan-e-Mann failed to create any ripples even though it starred Salman Khan. His forthcoming project, Kick, also stars SRK-rival Salman, which could be considered a far cry from the days when only SRK was favoured by all connected to Farah. She was one of SRK’s best buddies. But for mysterious reasons, Kunder never could manage to remain in SRK’s good books and the friendship went kaput when the Khan refused Tees Maar Khan.

As all Bollywood stories go, after a round of good action, some melodrama followed. The feuding parties have now patched up. Farah and Shirish visited SRK’s home Mannat, and Shirish later said, “We met today at his place. Sajid Khan, Sajid Nandiadwala, Farah Khan, Gauri and Shah Rukh—we all were there together. We sorted out things. We all felt bad about what happened.” Ironically, the SRK- Farah friendship might be back on track now thanks to the slap. Well, a slap in time...
