A chain link is broken into six parts. Four of these parts have three links apiece, one has two links, and one has only one link. A jeweller wants Rs 40 to cut a link and Rs 60 to weld a link. What is the most economical way to put the chain back together?

He breaks the double link and the single link and use them to connect the others. This way he is making three cuts and three welds for a cost of Rs 300.
