Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, roughly 200 km away from Delhi, is a birdwatcher’s paradise in the winter months. With 400 species flocking in, sightings are assured and plenty. But at dawn, the park turns surreal as mist rises from the swamps, leaves fall to the ground and branches cast long reflections. One can almost imagine a long-necked Siberian crane (last spotted many years ago) taking flight across these silent waters
