Ruma Roka is the founder of the Noida Deaf Society, which uses specialised vocational programmes to help the deaf achieve gainful employment. Her curiosity about deaf people led her to learn sign language before she went on to open the institute with the tagline ‘Deaf but not Dumb’. Ruma Roka started her mission to empower the deaf in 2005 from a small flat in Noida and now has six centres across the country
