Cristiano Ronaldo has lent himself—or rather a portion of himself—for Armani’s new  underwear ad. You can see the Real Madrid striker form a series of poses in black-and-white, with every muscle-cut in his constitution talking. In a few of the shots, he has tried to look moody, which may come across as if he wants to shed the very expensive thing concealing his modesty. Ronaldo, unlike the macho footballers of yesteryear, like Paul Gascoigne, is this generation’s androgynous sporting hero. Unsurprisingly, he has been a fashion wannabe. When Ronaldo was ridiculed for wearing tiny shorts and tucking a pink flower behind his ear last summer, he retorted: “I don’t know why people are so interested in what I wear on holiday. Men wear pink these days...”
