Rapper Eminem says his drug habit nearly cost him his career.
Superstar rapper Eminem has come clean on his drug habit, saying he went through three years of ‘hell’ because of this and it nearly wrecked his career. The 36-year-old Oscar winner told hip-hop mag XXL how a failed rehab stint put him off writing songs for three years. “I went in, and I came out. I relapsed, and I spent the next three years struggling with it,” he says of his rehab stay. “I didn’t think that I had a problem. I wasn’t ready to give up the drugs.” Eminem, whose new album Relapse is slated for release this May, says the death of his close friend and fellow rapper Proof also pushed him into a downward spiral of depression and self-destruction. “I think it kind of hit me so hard. It just blindsided me,” he says. Well, now that our man’s back with an album, can the real rap star please stand up? Now.
