Which films of yours are hitting the marquee this year? There is Sujoy Ghosh’s Alladin where I get to play out my childhood dream of rubbing a magic lamp and have Amitabh Bachchan coming out as genie. I’m doing Ram Gopal Verma’s Rann, once again with Amitji, which is the most serious role of my career. Then, there’s David Dhawan’s Do Knot Disturb with Govinda. I feel you aren’t a complete comic actor until you work with David. And then Milap Zaveri’s Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is my first romcom after my debut, Tujhe Meri Kasam.

You’re very comfortable with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. I love working with them. I have immense respect and love for Amitji. I’ll do any film with him, even if the role is for a nano second. Abhishek’s like a brother and a close friend. He is extremely talented and a great actor, but the word talent is second only to Amitabh Bachchan.

When your father Vilasrao Deshmukh lost the CM’s post amid the RGV terror tourism controversy, did you see many friends/colleagues disappear? Are the same people singing a new tune now that he is back in the cabinet? All I can say is that I have good friends and colleagues.

You are plagued by the Genelia D’Souza affair rumours since 2003. How boring is the Genelia question after all these years? Yaawnnn…

How do you manage filming and designing spaces simultaneously? Unfortunately, I don’t get much time to do architectural work but whenever I’m not shooting, I go to my office and take part in the creative process. I’m designing a close friend’s apartment currently.
