The 77-year-old country singer recently had the good fortune to get busted for carrying marijuana in a friendly jurisdiction.
Celebrated country singer Willie Nelson has never kept secret his fondness of marijuana. So it was no great revelation that when US Border Patrol boarded the venerable country star’s tour bus near the Texas-Mexico border they discovered about six ounces of weed.
Luckily, the 77-year-old had the good fortune to get busted in a friendly jurisdiction. The Hudspeth County Attorney CR ‘Kit’ Bramblett happens to be a huge fan, and has offered Nelson an innovative plea deal: he can pay a $100 fine and perform his 1975 hit Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain at the county courthouse.
“You can bet your ass I’m not going to be mean to Willie Nelson,” Bramblett explained to CNN. Judge Becky Dean-Walker, though, says, “I understand that people are star stuck, I’m not one of them.
