By the time you read this, the world will have got its first low carbon restaurant chain. Pankaj and Radhika Oswal, an Australia-based Indian entrepreneurial couple, have opened Otarian, a restaurant chain which promises to be as good to the environment as it will be for its customers’ appetites. With two locations each in America and England, Otarian has an all-vegetarian, even vegan, menu put together with ingredients ‘grown, gathered, sourced and prepared to make the least CO2 possible’, according to new reports quoting the couple. The restaurants also have plans for a unique loyalty programme: it will reward repeat customers with Carbon Karma Credits for helping ‘save the planet’.
