Genetically modified brinjal may still be on hold, but India has joined an elite group of countries that can tweak the genes of chicken and produce fatter birds that can fight diseases. In a major breakthrough, Hyderabad-based Project Directorate on Poultry has come up with this innovation. India is the world’s third largest egg producer and among the top 20 chicken producers on the planet.
