The Railways’ Passengers’ Services Committee, headed by Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party colleague and quiz master Derek O’Brien, has come out with a fresh catering policy as promised in the Railway budget.
The Railways’ Passengers’ Services Committee, headed by Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party colleague and quiz master Derek O’Brien, has come out with a fresh catering policy as promised in the Railway budget. The ideas include doing away with dals and gravy dishes because they are messy. “These items ought to be replaced with nutritious and dry items,” says O’Brien. Cooking in pantry cars could also be done away with; instead, cooked food would be loaded on trains and heated before serving, as most airlines do.
