Even as it battles heavy debt, Manchester United has opened a signature café in Mumbai’s Phoenix Mills. The menu at the Manchester United Café Bar offers burgers, pizzas and pastas. There are quite a few Asian dishes but not many Indian ones. Clearly, this menu reflects the hierarchy of football. The prices are on the higher side. Appetisers cost more than Rs 250, the mains between Rs 300 and Rs 400. A pint of beer comes for Rs 125. There is no chewing gum on the menu, though. So Sir Alex Ferguson would not be too happy.
