Octogenarian Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, who cited ill health as the reason to appoint youngest son Stalin as deputy chief minister last week, is now busy writing the screenplay of a love saga, expected to become a Tamil blockbuster. The work continues despite his repeated hospitalisation. Telugu actor Uday Kiran and an actress from Kerala, Meera Jasmine, will star in Nee Entry Naan Illai, based on Karunanidhi’s novel Surulimalai—the story of an honest forest official and his love for a village girl. In 1952, Karunanidhi made a mark in Tamil cinema through his first and highly successful screenplay of Parasakthi. The film also launched Shivaji Ganesan.
