The Trinamool Congress may have driven the Nano out of Bengal, but relatives of some party members have already booked the car for themselves.
A distant nephew of senior Trinamool legislator Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay was among the many who flocked to take a look at the Nano at a Tata Motors showroom in south Kolkata recently and booked it on the spot. A relative of another senior Trinamool office-bearer has also queued up for the car. The leaders themselves had nothing to say on the matter. But now, party chief Mamata Banerjee has clarified that she and her party have nothing against the Nano. All that they were opposed to was the forcible acquisition of land for the Tata Motors plant at Singur.
