The day the Gujarat Chief Minister delivered a speech in a Delhi campus amid protests
Over 1,500 students gathered at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in Delhi to hear Gujarat CM Narendra Modi speak amid protests outside the venue. The CM—who was chosen by college students in a poll—delivered a speech on: ‘Emerging Business Models in the Global Scenario’. Modi started his lecture by drawing upon collective national failures. “For the last few decades, our efforts have failed, and in the nation there is an atmosphere of disappointment. People think things won’t change.” Then he talked about how change was possible through technological upgradation and a good education system, and held forth on how he thought these approaches were transforming Gujarat. He also tried to empathise with students, and said, “I want that my country stops viewing youngsters as just new-age voters but accepts them as new age power,” to thundering applause from them.
