Barack Obama may have used the Internet to great effect in his presidential campaign, but provisions in a new Bill could allow him to switch off the Net during a national emergency. The Bill, which has come up in the US Senate, will allow the government to maintain the infrastructure of the Internet, giving it unprecedented power to regulate netizens. Civil society groups in the US are already crying foul over the prospect of more snooping by Big Brother. Not fair, Mr President.
