For once it was not Sachin Tendulkar striding upstage to receive an award, but his daughter Sara. At the Hilton hotel in Mumbai last week, a few metres away from the Brabourne stadium where Sachin practised for the next day’s IPL match, Sara earned recognition for her debut as a philanthropist.
The 12-year-old wanted to raise funds for Apnalaya, the trust run by her grandmother Annabel Mehta, and hence, ran in this year’s Mumbai Marathon. She collected Rs 5.88 lakh, the most for her age group. It earned her the ‘Youngest Dream Maker’ award. Precocity, it seems, runs in the family.
