Live-in relationships got another legal thumbs up last week.
Live-in relationships got another legal thumbs up last week. The Supreme Court dismissed all criminal charges filed against Tamil actress Khushboo for her comments in a 2005 interview on premarital sex. Nothing criminal about living together, the apex court said. The judgment follows a trend seen in recent years of granting legal recognition to live-in relationships. Two years ago, the Supreme Court had declared long-term live-in relationships as marriages, effectively, giving legitimacy to children born of such relationships.
And let’s not forget the Domestic Violence Bill passed in 2005 that protects women not only from husbands but also live-in partners. Looks like live-in relationships are becoming the ‘in’ thing under law.
