A long-forgotten law in South Carolina is setting off alarm bells in the US government.
A long-forgotten law in South Carolina is setting off alarm bells in the US government. It requires anyone proposing to overthrow the government to sign a form (and pay a $5 fee) and send it… to the government. After years of little action, the Act has witnessed a raft of applicants, including a Donald Duck, as well as American Citizens for the Extermination of South Carolina, which believes that ‘the US should use its nuclear arsenal to detach South Carolina from the mainland, use heavy ships to tow the state into the Atlantic and sink it and its political idiots’. CBS reported that a senator from the state, Larry Martin, planned to repeal the ‘Subversive Activities Registration Act’.
